venting pollution and promoting
energy conservation not only

employers and individuals by re
ducing their operating costs.”
Since Jan. 1, 1997, the 132
past award winners have re
duced wastewater by 2.3 billion
gallons, solid waste by 78 million
tons and air emissions by 75 mil
lion tons. They reduce electricity
use by more than 30 million ki
lowatt hours, while saving $385
million in costs along the way.
