NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE
In Chicago, prices were lower. In the
Eastern region, prices continued un
changed to lower. Elsewhere, prices were
unchanged.
The market tone was barely steady to
weak. Retail demand was generally light
to no better than moderate, mostly fair.
Supplies of the larger sizes were fully ad
equate to ample, and the medium and
lighter weights were generally adequate.
Breaking stock offerings were adequate
to fully adequate for the fair to occasion
ally good demand. Light type fowl were
ample for current processing require
ments.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole
birds was generally noted as disappoint
ingly light and below expectations.
Offerings were fully adequate to ample
and in the heavier balance on the 2.5
pound sizes. Live supplies were at least
moderate; weights varied and were
mostly desirable to light. Processing
schedules were moderate to moderately
heavy. Less than trucklot asking prices
were unchanged at 56 to 68 cents. Trade
sentiment was about steady. In the parts
complex, breast items were readily avail
able and generally slow to clear. Other
items were fully sufficient for the light
, and spotty buying interest.
