CALVES: Compared to last week,
veal calf prices were only lightly tested
as the demand for farm calves continues
to be very good. A light test of larger
slaughter calves closed 1.00-5.00 higher.
Buyers were desperate to fill orders on a
very light week’s offering of Holstein
bull farm calves. Lack of supply is
mostly due to the extremely hot tem
peratures at the time of conception for
current new-born calves. Holstein bulls
returning to feed sold 40 00-50.00
higher. Holstein heifer prices ended the
week mostly 5.00 higher.
