Some weakness was noted early in the week, but prices ad vanced on Thursday’s light offering de spite light demand from Kosher buyers. Market strength came as beef packers continue to move dressed meat swiftly out the back door and boxed beef cut-out values continue to inch higher. Western feedlots traded cattle firm to fully 1.00 higher live and 1.00-2.00 higher dressed from 74.00-75.00 and 117.00-119.00. Local Holstein steer prices turned 1.00- 2.00 higher with a boost from Thurs day’s attractive offering. Slaughter heifers were only lightly tested this past week. Slaughter cows closed .50-1.50 higher with the full advance placed on the leaner-type cow from 85-90 pet lean. Slaughter bulls ended the week steady to 1.00 higher. Supply included 35 percent slaughter steers, 5 percent slaughter heifers, 30 percent slaughter cows, 5 per cent bulls, with the balance feeders.
