USDA-MO Dept Ag Market News
Daily National Grain Market Sum-
mary
Good gains were seen in grain and
soybean bids, today, with some support
stemming from drier weather forecasts
over the next several days in the Midwest
as well as traders concerns over possible
frost damage in winter wheat areas.
Wheat 1 to 3 cents higher. Corn 2 to 4
cents higher. Sorghum 4 cents higher.
Soybeans 8 to 10 cents higher.
Low overnight temperatures the past
week in Kansas, Colorado, and Texas
spurred concerns that parts of the winter
wheat crop could have sustained
damage. Crop condition ratings have
been good many places due to recent
moisture but some areas were missed
and freeze damage is possible in places.
Reports that Tunisia bought 6 million
bushels of optional origin wheat with
high odds that it will end up being EU
origin also added strength to wheat.
1 here have been some reports also that
some Chinese wheat areas are having
drought problems with extremely low
water levels at a couple of major dams.
Slight declines in corn bids were due to
forecasts returning to drier conditions
next week More moisture is still needed
to refill subsoil moisture. Slow export
demand this week is limiting gains for all
commodities
Soybean bids were sharply higher in
reaction to firmer meal and corn bids.
Fund buying was fairly active on the
Board today as USDA reduced ending
stock estimates for soybeans yesterday.
