Sad Day in History ...
April 14, 1865. distinguished itself in US history as
the sad day when Abraham Lincoln was shot by
John Wilkes Booth Apparently, Booth believed that
Lincoln’s death might help Confederate causes Lincoln
had been pulling together a much milder
peace settlement than what was later
agreed upon News of Lincoln’s death
(on April 15) stirred such strong feel
ings of grief and resentment in the
nation that the eventual settlement was
probably less generous than it might
have been otherwise The same dale,
April 14, in 1912 was when the R M S
Titanic sank after hitting an iceberg
History is little more than the register of
crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.
