Joni prefers to use the old, Just out of the attic but not cleaned clothing. She will clean it herself. ANSWER M. Burkholder wanted to know how to rid houseplants of scales. Shirley Wartzenluft of Robesonia writes to use Safer’s Insecticidal Soap, avail able at hardware stores and other stores where garden products are for sale. The directions do not list scales, but she has used it for scales by spraying the plant, waiting a minute or two, and then brush ing the whole plant with a very soft brush.
