QUESTION - Ann Hochenbury is looking for a pattern for an Afghan called “The Night Before Christmas.” The design is by Raymond Gus tafan, photographed by Scott Little, and is a scenic portrayal of St. Nick’s midnight ride, which captures many details mentioned in the poem. The central motif is the farewell scene, complete with miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer. The pattern appeared in the 1991 “Better Homes and Garden” magazine. ANSWER For a York County reader who wanted to know how to remove oil stains from driveways and garage floors, a reader recom mends sprinkling area with cat litter and then sweeping. ANSWER Here’s another solution for remov ing milk bottle stains. Karen Kinnane, Pompton Plains, N.J., writes that if the white stains are mineral deposits, fill the bottles % full with white vinegar and add V* with ammonia. Allow solution to set in bottle for 3 or 4 days. If the glass is still stained, it may be what is called “sick" glass, which means it is permanently stained. Coating the inside of the bottle with mineral oil (from a drug store) may camouflage the stains for about six months. Then the bottle must be washed inside with warm soapy water, dried, and re coated. MILK Where's your mustache? “
