ly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder steers
steady to 1.00 higher, feeder heifers steady
to 1.00 lower. Demand good for feeder
cattle. Stocker cattle and calves steady.
Demand continues extremely good for
grazing cattle. The mild winter has caused
cattle on wheat to finish ahead of schedule
this season with the Match wheat tun
occuting mostly in February. Same is
expected for the May tun which will likely
concentrate in April. Match tains have
been generous statewide. Spring grazing
will be optimal. Quality average to attrac
tive. Feeder cattle in slightly thin to mod
erate flesh, end fleshy. Weigh-ups remain
highly varied and in complete range of
gaunt to fttll. Slaughter cows steady to 1.00
lower. Slaughter bulls steady. Packet
demand moderate. Demand very good for
thin glazing type cows. Total of 415 cows
and bolls sold with 35 percent to packers.
Receipts this week 5,960; last week
10,394; last year 11,5*7. Supply consisted
of 75 percent yearlings over 000 lbs; 20
percent calves and short yearlings under
000 lbs; 5 percent cows and bulls. Heifers
comprised 39 percent of feeder and calf
supply. Prices follow with weighted aver
age weight and price In parenthesis.
