Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was slow to fair at best and about as
expected as normal lighter mid-week and
mid-month activity combined with buyers
shifting interest to com beef and cabbage.
Offerings varied by size and volume but
were at least adequate overall. Live sup
plies were mostly moderate; weights var
ied in a full range of light to heavy. Pro
cessing schedules were light to moderately
heavy. Less than truckiot asking prices
were unchanged at 49 to 61 cents. Trade
sentiment was mostly steady. In the parts
complex, all items were adequate. Wings
were in closest balance. Leg cuts were in
heaviest supply.

GLANCE
In Chicago, prices were slightly higher
on the larger sizes, unchanged on the
balance. In the Eastern region, prices were
unchanged to slightly higher on the larger
sizes, unchanged on the smaller sizes.
Elsewhere, prices were unchanged. The
market tone ranged steady to firm, mostly
fully steady to instances firm. Demand was
mined in a lull range, light to good, usually
moderate; with best movement centering
around the occasional retail feature. Sup
plies continued adequate to well balanced,
although, occasionally held with confi
dence. Breaking stock supplies were gen
erally adequate from regular sources, and
demand for additional product was usually
limited. Light type fowl were adequate for
current trade requirements.

Majority prices were unchanged to
slightly higher on whites, balance of items
were generally unchanged when compared
to a week earlier. Demand was light and
unaggressive for fully adequate offerings
of yolks, interest was usually moderate but
improved on whole; and good for limited
supplies of whites. The undertone
improved on whole and whiter Liquid and
frozen eggs (ingredients included) pro
cessed under federal inspectin in the East
ern region for the week ending March 04,
2000 were 2 % more than than last week,
and 10 % more than a year ago. Shell egg
suppliers were being reduced but still fully
adequate for needs.
