CATTLE Compared to Thursday, a
very light test of slaughter steers sold
steady A rally in the futures market late
last week improved demand, but the
supply was much too light to compete for
higher prices Holstein steers sold steady
to firm and slaughter heifers were only
lightly tested Slaughter cows and a good
offering of slaughter bulls sold fully
steady Supply included 37 percent
slaughter steers and 17 percent slaughter
cows.

slaughter steers sold fully 50 and
instances I 00 higher. Strength was more
evident on the Select quality cattle than
itwas on the fancier types Holstein steers
sold steady to 1 00 higher m activetrading,
while slaughter heifers were not well
tested Slaughter cows sold steady to
1 00 higher with the full advance on the
leanest cows Slaughter bull prices were
mostly steady Supply included 41 percent
