heard from Jennifer Zimmer
man, county FFA president, and
Sarah Boyd, Superior 4-H
award recipient for the county.

HAPPENINGS
Berks County 4-H
The Berks County 4-H Sheep
Club held its first two meetings
on January 4 and February 1.
During the January meeting,
the club held officer elections.
Ashley Shollenberger, President;
Cathy Levan, Vice President;
Kelly Graeff, Treasurer; Amber
Shollenberger, Secretary; Kim
Angstat and Amanda Miller,
News Reporters. After elections,
the club discussed the meeting
agenda for 2000.
The February meeting was a
combined meeting with the beef
and pig club. The first topic was
a discussion about new activity
books for each of the clubs. The
sheep club was to begin using
the new books and stop using
the older blue activity books.
The new books will most
likely be distributed at the
March meeting. There are
growth and development,
finance, feeding, and many
other sections to help 4-Hers
with their projects.
The intermediate and ad
vanced record books were dis-

livestock and meat judging
teams. The combined club meet
ing ended with a private sheep
meeting. The 4-Hers were re
minded about upcoming meet
ings, including the March 8
meeting featuring a special feeds
presentation.

The annual tack swap at the
Northampton County 4-H
Center will be held on Saturday,
April 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Northampton County 4-H
Center is located on Bushkill
Center Road in Nazareth. The
tack swap is open to anyone who
wishes to sell or buy a wide vari
ety of horse related items, ap
parel, and tack. All sellers must
have a table area. No consign
ment items will be sold at the
tack swap.
Sale areas will be offered to
the public at a cost of $l5 per
table for the indoor area; $l2 per
table for the pole barn area; and
$lO per “area” in the outdoor
arena, weather permitting.
Anyone wishing to sell during
the tack swap must preregister
for spaces in the indoor and pole
bam areas. Outdoor areas will
