Thursday’s market followed its recent routine of trading slightly higher early on fancy cattle, only to fade well below steady by the end of the supply. Holstein steer demand was lighter and prices trended steady to 1.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady, instances 1.00 liigher on the good lean cows over 1200 lbs. Slaughter bulls traded fully steady. Supply included 38 percent slaughter steers and 39 percent slaughter cows. Local Hol stein steers finally succumbed to down ward pressure and ended the week steady to 1.00 lower, while slaughter heifer prices closed weak on a thin test. The slaughter cow market ended mostly steady with some strength noted on the leaner types. Slaughter bulls finished steady to 1.00 lower. Supply included 41 percent slaughter steers, 7 percent slaughter heifers, 38 percent slaughter cows, 7 percent bulls, with the balance feeders.
