mation on converting gasoline engines to
run on kerosene. Francis Tuoti, North

Here is some of his information: Many old
tractors in the 1920 s were designed to
run on both gasoline and keronsene.
These were basically low-speed engines
with low compression rations and long
stroke relative to the cylinder bore or
piston diameter. Most were started on
gasoline (which vaporizes at lower tem
perature than kerosene and is therefore
more combustible) and then switched to
kerosene when the engine warmed up
and was better able to vaporize the kero
sene. If you believe the compression
should be lowered, try using two-head
gaskets instead of one. Problems en
countered: Exhaust emmisions may tend
to be smokey and smelly, spark plug foul
ing from carbon buildup, decreased
power, poor throttle response, poor cold
weather starting unless started with gas-
