Oklahoma National Stockyards - Week
ly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder steers
and heifers 2.00-4.00 lower with moderate
demand. Stocker cattle and calves steady
with very good demand. Feeder cattle ate
moving off wheat early due to dry condi
tions and profitability. Despite this cattle
continued to teach their maximum weights
and much of supply were feeders weighing
over 700 lbs in fleshier than normal condi
tions for this time of year. This combined
with a lackluster movement of slaughter
cattle and declining cattle futures has dam
pened demand and price of feeders. Qual
ity average to attractive. Feeders in
medium to fleshy conditions off wheat;
calves In thin to moderate flesh. Wdgh-ups
gaunt to avenge. Slaughter cows and bulls
1.00 lower. Packer demand moderate.
Demand good for replacement and stock
cows. Total of 373 cows and bolls sold
with 33 percent to packets. Receipts this
week 13,400; last week 11,131; last year
12,123. Supply consisted of SO percent
yearlings over 600 lbs; 17 percent calves
under 600 lbs; 3 percent cows and bulls.
Heifers comprised 33 percent of feeder and
calf supply. Prices follow with weighted
avenge weight and price in parenthesis.
