Berks Society 3 Last year activities of Farm Women Berks County Group #3 had been filled with food, fellow ship, and donations to various charities. Members started the year in January with the annual reading of our by-laws and with a speaker, Rosemarie Frank fitali, from the Women in Crisis. In February, members held a pound auction for the American Heart Association. Everyone brought one pound of whatever they wanted wrapped in red. In March, members had an Irish sing-along. The society also held a dime pitch and donated the money to the March of Dimes. In April, the group had a dinner and a tour of Walnut Woods. In May members visited the library in Boyertown. In June the group went to Classic Flowers, Main Street in Oley. Members annually get together at the house of Jeanette Miller from Barto for our family picnic. In September members made a craft for fall by putting vinegar and different spices in ajar to be used when needed for cooking. In October members tried to starwatch, but it turned out not to be such a clear night and only certain stars were visible. November came and the soci ety had a mystery raffle where everyone donated one dollar for a mystery gift that was donated that money to another organiza tion. To end our year members enjoyed a delicious dinner at The Historic Pleasantville Inn, Pleasantville. During that meeting new offi cers were installed. York Farm Women #26 held the November meeting at Cum berland Cafe at New Cum berland with 13 members att ending. Martha Huston and Jan Sechler were hostesses. The Christmas banquet was a dinner theatre held December 4 at Trinity Church at New Cumberland. Athena Beshore, Evelyn Beshore, and Ruth Traver were on the committee. Following the refreshments Valaria read from Matthew 18 and “A New Year’s Prayer.” Valaria presided at the busi ness meeting. The Sunshine Committee reported two cards were sent and Valaria gave a report of the County meeting she attended. Berks Society 1 The November meeting was held at the home of Martha Levan. President Gerry Mar steller presided. The Bible was read followed by the Lords prayer and Flag salute. Members sampled cookies and exchanged recipes. The October convention was discussed. Berks Heim Bingo was discussed and the need for angle food cake and prices. Members donated five dozen cookies and money for Santa’s comer. The December meeting was the Christmas party where secret pals were revealed and new ones chosen.
