ANSWER - Mrs. Arthur Robbins, West Oneonta,
N.Y., wanted a good recipe for penuche fudge. Her
husband’s grandmother made a wonderful fudge that
was sugary but not hard. Thanks to Pat Elligson,
Millers, Md., who sent a recipe that is from the early
1950 s Karo Syrup Company.
Penuchi Fudge
3 cups brown sugar
Vi cup Karo corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
IV2 cup nut meats
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine sugar, Karo, and milk in saucepan. Cook,
stirring constantly until temperature reaches 235 de
grees. Add butter, set aside without stirring to cool.
When lukewarm, add flavoring, beat until thick and
creamy. Stir in nuts, pour into oiled or buttered pan.
Cut into squares when firm.
ANSWER A. Reiff, Narvon, sent in a recipe for the
request for pizza. She writes that it is easy and deli
cious.
1 pound ground beef, fried and drained
14-ounce can pizza sauce
4 cups shredded pizza cheese
2 cans refrigerated homestyle biscuits
Pizza toppings, desired
1 tablespoon melted butter
Parmesan cheese
Mix pizza sauce into hot ground beef. Spread into
9x13-inch pan. Top with any pizza toppings desired
such as ham, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc. Layer
cheese on top. Place biscuits on top of cheese and
brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with parmesan
cheese. Bake at 350 degrees approximately 30-40
minutes until bubbly. Serves 6 to 8.

Marilyn Adams knows the pain
of losing a son from a fanning
accident Her 11-year-old son suf
focated in a gravity flow wagon of
shelled com on his family’s lowa
farm.
After his death, Adams founded
Farm Safety 4 Just Kids to help
promote a safe farm environment
to prevent health hazards, injuircs,
and fatalities to children and
youth.
Adams will be the keynote
speaker at the SAFE KIDS semi
nar, Feb. 10, from 9:30 a.tn. to 2
p.m.
The daylong workshop at the
Farm and Home Center, 1383
Arcadia Rd., Lancaster, is geared
toward parents.
Adams continues to find pur
pose in sharing the story of her loss
with others in the hopes of prevent
ing farm tragedies. Her book.
ANSWER - Jane Sauble, Manheim, wanted a
recipe for Moravian pie. Thanks to Judy Stuckey,
Annvilie, for sending a recipe.
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup coconut
1 cup table molasses
3 heaping tablespoons flour
Vz cup milk
1 egg,beaten
9- or 10-inch pie shell
Mix together sugar, coconut, molasses, and flour.
Add beaten egg and milk. Pour into pie shell. Bake 10
minutes at 425 degrees; reduce heat to 350 degrees
and bake an additional 40 minutes.

Kcyscr-Groff said, “We are not
trying to tell parents how to run
their farm or how to raise their
family. But we offer guidelines for
making tasks safer. We teach child
developement principles to help
parents determine appropriate
tasks for their children."
Children often help with farm
chores at an early age. It’s a great
way to teach responsibility and the
satisfaction that comes from hard
work. But too often, children are
assigned tasks beyond their age
ability.
“Many deaths and injuries could
be prevented if parents understood
how a child develops before they
assign chores," Price said.
Other scheduled speakers at the
seminar include city firefighters
Brian Klugh and Lloyd Henry,
county extension agent Bob
Anderson and Dennis Murphy,
professor of agriculture at Penn
State.
SAFE KIDS Coalition is con
ducting the event in partnership
with St. Joseph Hospital, Lancas
ter General Hospital, and the Penn
