Hampshires From her profile, the February gilt was a pretty one, “big and tall and beautiful,” said Brock. The gilt, shown by Brandon Winebark of Winebark's Hampshires, Myer stown, “has the most potential to make hogs better in the Hampshire breed,” Brock said. Brandon exhibited KLW9 Gol den Girl 1-8 (S: JZPS Golden Icon 44-5, D: KLW6 Bobbi Franchise 2-1). The reserve champion, shown by Brandon’s sister, Janine, exhi bited the most in terms of breed characteristics. Janine exhibited KLW9 Golden Girl 1-7. Landraces Brock was impressed with the March gilt shown by Grant A. Lazarus HI, Germansville, LAG 9 MS Data Unique (S: LAG 7 Data Aris 10-8, D: LAG 7 Ms Milkmans Uni 1-3). The gilt tied it all together, noted Brock it’s “dur able and feminine and broody and puts it all together very nicely,” he said. Reserve wait to the “second most progressive” gilt, the March second place gilt shown by George P. Billig, New Tripoli, BGP9 Kate (S: SBI6 Maxwell 906 96-6, D: BGPB Kate 9-7). Polands The Match Poland China moved a little more freely and was more complete in muscle than others during competition. Brock noted. The grand champion went to Melana Lovell, Maple Spring Farm, Linden, for MEL 9 Miss Zcna 29380003 (S: KWBB Con crete Is Bionic 3-4, D: ZB7 Miss Ice 6-7). Reserve went to Cheryl Bcnnc ooff, Kutztown, for CAB 9 Awe some Oak (S: DDP6 Awesome 23-5, D: CAB 3 F Miss Cruiser). Spolteds The big black gilt shown by Grant Lazarus “easily puts the most together,” Brock noted, in terms of skeletal extension and length of body. The grand champ ion went to Leslie/Lazarus Brothers, Getmansville, for the January gilt, LLB 9 Hun & Loin (S: ZSF6H&L 10-3, D: LLB 7 Jus tice 7-5). Reserve went to the “widthy" February gilt, LLB 9 Dex Stand, also shown by Lcslic/Lazarus Brothers. Yorkshires The February gilt, a “stout brood sow," noted Brock, was “adequate in all traits.” It beat out the March gilt, one of the most challenging classes, even though the March gilt was a “real com plete gilt.” The grand champion was shown by Rattlesnake Mt Farms, CBH9 Sue (S: CLLS Roc Challenge 6-10, D: CBH7 Sue 22-6).
