Youth Beef Show Numbers Increase

- The youth beef breeding
division of the Pennsylvania Farm
Show included an increase in
entries this year.
In the Angus show Carl
Detwiler, Roaring Spring,
Bedford Co. had the champion
with Bolsens Golden Darby.
Reserve champion went to Jamie
Kristy Dietrich has the champion Limousin.
Cassandra Schaeffer shows the champion Simmental.
Morgan Firestlne and her dad Mike show the champion
Hereford.
Hower, Bethlehem, Northampton
Co. with JEA Widespread
Mascara.
In the small Charolais show,
Dwight Byers, Biglerville, Adams
Co., had the champion with Miss
Pennsylvania.
Kristy Dietrich, Hamburg,
Berks Co. had the champion in
the Limousin show with LDSK
Shania. Reserve champion
Limousin honors went to Shannon
Callihan, Schellsburg, Bedford
Co. with Circle C Alia First
Choice,
In the Herford show, the grand
champion, Map Miss Tiffany, was
shown by Morgan Firestme,
Womelsdorf, Berks Co. The
reserve champion Hereford was
shown by Adam Mattocks,
Meadville, Crawford Co. with
PFS Miss Houdini.
In the Shorthorn show, Kyle
Fleener, Robesonia, Lebanon Co.,
had the champion with MH Sheer
Beauty. Dakon Moore,
Hookstown, Beaver Co. had the
reserve champion with MFS My
Girl.
The Simmental champion, STF
I'm The One, was shown by
Cassandra Schaeffer, and Tim
Schaeffer had the reserve
champion on STF Celine. Both
are from Myerstown, Lebanon
Co.
STEER SHOW
In the steer show, Carl
Detwiler's crossbred
middleweight entry was named
the grand champion. The steer
weighed 1,260 pounds. Carl is
from Bedford County.
Reserve champion honors went
to Justin Claycomb, also from
Bedford Co. His crossbred steer
followed the champion in class.
In the Simmental show, Justin
Mankey had the champion and
Brian Hartman had the reserve
champion.
In the Shorthorn show, Drew
Cowdon had the champion and
Joelynn Donough had the reserve
champion.
Morgan Firestine had the
champion Hereford and Travis
Reed had the reserve champion.
In the Angus show, Brett
Bishard had the champion and
Christopher Willhide had the
reserve champion.

Pennsylvania Farm Show. Helping to celebrate are Jessi Leister,

Each year, the Coble award is given to an outstanding leader
of youth at the beef show. This year, Alvin Vogel, Evans City,
Buttler County, was named. From left, Dave Coble represented
the family, Vogel, and Samuel Hayes Jr., state ag secretary.
