Shannon Holtzinger Four-year Bermudian FFA member Shannon Holtzinger enjoys the leadership opportunities and showing animals that FFA membership has to offer. Shannon, 17, is the daughter of Kevin and Karen Holtzinger, East Berlin. Shan non’s future plans are undecided, but she has been thinking about a career in ag journalism. Shannon has served in various capaci ties in her chapter, including historian and is vice president She has served on the banquet committee. Somerset County FFA member Joshua D. Hoover garnered several good things from membership in the largest youth organization in the world. One was learn ing from his experience. FFA has taught him about “building things,” he wrote. “I leant to do things on my own and leant from my mistakes to do better the next time.” Joshua, 17, Somerset, is the son of Ran dy L. Hoover and Regina O. Garrett Joshua plans to be a computer engineei and designer. Joshua has served on the sports com mittee and completed projects in farm equipment tool racks, hay wagons, and welding. Horst enjoys the opportunity of leader ship development that FFA offers. He plans to pursue a career in agriculture and possibly become part of a mission activity. Jeremy, 17, is the son of Wilmer and Naomi Horst, New Holland. He has served as second vice president of membership development, student adviser, and is vice president of chapter operations. Jeremy has served on several commit tees, including membership development, ag awareness, and chapter operations. He has completed work experience projects on the Horst dairy farm and in goat finish ing and breeding. The four-year Dover FFA member plans to attend Pen nsylvania College of Technology for stu dies in diesel mechanics and use the experience on the family farm. Doyle served as chapter chaplain and president and is vice president. He com pleted three years of on-farm experience on the family farm. He received milk pro ficiency awards and an academic achieve ment honor. In addition, Doyle received the Green hand, chapter, and White Rose degrees. F. Louise Huber B Four-year Grassland FFA member F. Louise Huber noted that she enjoys all the “hands on experiences we do” in FFA. She lists the strength of FFA as the leadership qualities it teaches. Louise, 18. is the daughter of Ivan and Fem Huber, East Earl. Louise plans to continue working at Huber’s as office assistant, and “maybe eventually taking over the business when my parents retire,” she wrote. Louise is student adviser and has served on the recruitment and citizenship com mittees. In addition, she has completed work experience off-farm at Yoder’s Country Market and Huber’s Dump Truck Service, and on-farm at Greater Vision Farms. Louise has received a proficiency award for swine production, a gold medal at states for land judging, first in the coun ty for the interview contest, and a gold and silver at the state record book contest. She has received the Greenhand and chapter degrees. , - Kirk Hudacky FFA has many activities to do, of which Kirk Hudacky is happy about. Kirk, 18, is the son of Charlotte Hudacky, Cranesville. Kirk, four-year Albion FFA member, plans to join the U.S. Marine Corps. Kirk has sered as chapter chaplain, his torian, and is sentinel. He also served on the Albion Fair set-up committee. He completed projects in employment and home improvement In addition, he received an employment award and the Gieenhand and chapter farmer honors. Jessica Hyland Four-year Derry v FFA member Jessica wrote. “You test your strengths and weak nesses. You leadership and other skills that help you throughout your whole life. You meet people from other schools. You form strong bonds with friends. I got a chance to do something I love to do work with animals. FFA has helped me to overcome my fears, to speak in public. 1 earned my way to states for conservation public speaking. That is something I thought I could never do.” Jessica, 17, New Alexandria, is the daughter of Debborah Gorman and Wil liam Hyland. The Derry FFA member plans to attend college to study agriculture education. Jessica has served as chaplain and is vice president. She served on the recrea tion, field trip, fund raising, and super vised occupational experience commit tees.
