816-Lancastef Fanning, Saturday, December 18, 1999 FFA Nominates Leib For Honorary American Degree The National FFA Organiza tion recently announced that Robert Leib has been nominated to receive the organization’s Honorary American FFA Degree. The degree is the highest national honorary award pre sented by the FFA and recog nizes those who greatly con tribute to the advancement of agricultural education and pro vide outstanding service to their local program and community. Lancaster Mennonite High School alumni Philip Eby of Gap and Keith Weaver, New Holland, were recently awarded the American FFA Degree, the high est degree the National FFA can bestow upon an FFA member. The two 1997 LMH gradu ates were two of 29 Pennsylvanians to be recognized for their “premier leadership, personal growth, and career suc cess through spiritual educa tion” at the 72nd National FFA Convention in October, in Louisville, Ky. Approximately four out of 1,000 members receive this degree every year. Eby, who served as a state FFA officer in 1997-1998, is a sophomore at Penn State University.
