Recognizes Youth
YORK (York Co.) -
November is a month for recog
nizing achievement in the York
County 4-H Dairy program. The
county banquet was conducted
Nov. 12 at the Shrewsbury Fire
Hall. Following a meal, award
winners were introduced.
The Justin Loßianco scholar
ship selects a young person with
a desire to be involved in raising
breeding animals The scholar
ship is presented by the Justin
Loßianco family, in memory of
Justin who died in a tragic farm
accident. The winners are select
ed though an application and
interview process. Two winners
were selected from the 11 appli
cants this year The scholarships
were presented by Justin
Loßiano’s father, Rick Loßianco,
and Justin’s grandmother, Gilda
Stitely.
The 1999 winners were
Susan Richardson from Fawn
Grove and Jesse Stambaugh
from East Berlin
Cory Thompson of Wellsville
was recognized as the overall
sweepstakes showmanship con
test winner at the York County
4-H Dairy Roundup in July Cory
was selected as the champion
showman of the 4-H show and
then went on to compete with
winners of the previous year’s
showmanship contest
