Samuel Hayes will be the fea
tured speaker at the 1999
National Young Farmers
Education Institute Banquet on
Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, 5 p.m.
at the Hershey Lodge and
Convention Center.
The banquet will serve as the
kick-off for the convention to be
held Dec. 8-11,1999. In addition
to Sec. Hayes, the program will
include a parade of flags, Ag
Spokesperson speech, an ice
cream social, and dance band
“Branded.” At least 21 states
will be represented by over 500
people who will be attending the
event.
An Agriculture Spokespersons
contest will also be held on
Wednesday with contestants
from different states competing
against each other for the title
In the afternoon the Agriculture
Spokesperson will stop at a local
grocery store and school to dis
cuss the importance of agricul
ture in our country.
The week will be filled with
interesting tours, educational
seminars and interesting work
shops. The tours will include
places such as R.W. Sauders,
Kreider Farms, Gettysburg
Battlefield, Harley Davidson,
New Holland Equipment,
Anderson Pretzel, Hammercreek
Exotics, Mason Dixon Farms,
and many more places.
Shopping excursions at
Rockvale Square, Holiday
Homes tours, and Craft work
shops also will be happening
throughout the week and geared
for women. On Thursday every
one will be visiting the Sight
and Sound Millennium Theatre
to see the Christmas show fol
lowed by a dinner at a local
smorgasbord. Each of the
remaining evenings will feature
banquets at Hershey and
Convention Center with enter
tainment following dinner.
On Saturday, December 11, a
trade show will be held from 9
a.m. to 6 p.m.
