Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 20, 1999-A5
Daily National Grain Market Summary
After two consecutive days of higher
prices, grain and soybean bids turned tow
er. Export sales have slowed somewhat this
week but a slight pickup in fanner selling
has been reported in {daces. A decline in
soybean meal demand weighed on bean
bids. Wheat 3 to 5 cents lower. Com I to 2
cents lower. Sorghum 3 cents lower. Soy
beans I to 5 cents lower except Minneapo
lis I cent higher. Winter wheat crop con
tinued to concern traders as dry weather
conditions remain in the southern Plains.
However, recent upturns were seen as
over- done and corrections were made on
the Board today. Light export sales ate all
that have been reported, despite the very
low prices. Large world stocks continue to
increase competition and pressure bids
lower. Com and soybean bids slipped mod
erately lower also due to light foreign trad
ing and traces of producer selling, howev
er, many arc reluctant to sell before the first
of the year.
