quiet for the middle of the week, however,
optimism for the weekend was noted.
Offerings of bone-in breasts began to
loosen further, wings were mixed, and all
other items were at least adequate. Retail
and distributive movement continued no
better than fair. The market tone was gen
erally steady.

Prices were unchanged on whites, irre
gular on sugared yolks but mostly higher.
Whole and salt yolks were higher when
compared to a week earlier. New trading
was only fair for product that was generally
for needs. Liquid and frozen eggs
(ingredients included) processed under
federal inspection in the Eastern region for
the week ending October 23, 1999 were
unchanged from last week, and 2 % more
than last year. Shell egg supplies were usu
ally adequate for most trade needs.

GLANCE
Prices were unchanged. The market tone
was steady. Demand remained mixed from
light to occasionally good, mostly mod
erate to fairly good, and was best where
scattered features existed. Supplies of all
sizes were generally adequate to close.
Breaking stock offerings from regular
sources were adequate to close, and
demand for additional heavy nest runs was
light to occasionally moderate. Light type
fowl for this week were reported as gener
ally sufficient, but next week’s offerings
were less than normal.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
slowed and was typical of normal midweek
activity at most plants. Offerings were
adequate to instances short. Live supplies
were mostly moderate; weights varied, and
were generally desirable. Processing sche
dules were moderate to moderately heavy.
Less than trucldot asking prices were 1
cent higher at 56 to 68 cents. Trade senti
ment was steady, instances firm. In the
parts complex, inquiry tapered on the
breasts items and supplies were at least
adequate, particularly boneless skinless.
Leg quarters were fully adequate Wings
were clearing but some sellers noted resis
tance to higher prices.
