National
Grain Market
St. Joseph, MO
Wed Oct 27, 1999
USDA-MO Dept Ag Muket News
Daily National Otain Market Summary
Wheat bids were slightly higher on
export sales and optimism for new orders.
Com bids slipped lower again on harvest
pressure and a pick up in farmer selling.
Slight strength in soybean bids were due to
traders corrections from recent sharp
declines and lack of fresh export news.
Wheat steady to 3 cents higher except Min
neapolis 10 cents lower. Com steady to 1
cent lower. Sorghum 3 cents lower. Soy
beans steady to S cents higher. South Kore
a's overnight wheat purchase and indica
tions Algeria could be in the market soon,
offered support to wheat bids. Mid-week
sales aren't fantastic, compared to last
week but year to date figures are getting
better. Reports that Algeria bcught 4.5 mil
lion bushels of wheat from Germany was
disturbing but talks that they ate looking
for another cargo or two could be good for
the US. Pakistan could be back in the
market soon due to new GSM-102 credits
being restored to them. Com lads were
slightly lower, despite the substantial
Japanese pur- chase overnight and South
Korea has a tender tonight Rapid harvest
pro- grass continued to pressure prices as
USDA estimates com crop 77 percent
complete. An increase in farmer selling has
been reported in some areas. Soybean bids
were steady to slightly higher with no teal
reasons to support the market Harvest
progress is good for soybeans with over 86
percent in bins. Export sales have not been
good this past week for soybeans and nil
this week. Rains continue in Argentina and
is likely to spread on into Brazil. Spillover
strength from com trade and technical cor
rections are the major support factors.

ly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week; Feeder cattle

average. Yearling cattle in medium flesh;
calves in moderate to fleshy conditions.
Wdgh-ups average to iiill. Slaughter cows
.50-130 lower. Slaughter bulls steady to
1.00 lower. Packer demand light as fall
