Dairy Farmers Of America Join
In Filing Lawsuit In Vermont
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Dairy
Farmers of America (DFA) has
joined other marketing organi
zations that represent dairy
farm families in Vermont, New
York, and Pennsylvania in filing
a lawsuit to stop the implemen
tation of Federal Order Reform.
DFA dairy producers named
as plaintiffs in the lawsuit
include: Lewis Gardner,
Pennsylvania; Laurence Allen,
Vermont; and Edwin Schoen,
New York.
The lawsuit, which was filed
in Federal District Court in
Vermont, asks for a temporary
restraining order and prelimi
nary injunction. The goal of the
lawsuit is to prevent the final
rule’s negative impact in Class I
and dairy farmer prices.
“We continue to hope that
Congress will legislate changes
to the Final Rule that remove
the most negative aspects of the
decision,” said DFA Board
Chairman Herman Brubaker.

Northeast dairy producers of the
Option 1-A issue, DFA’s
Northeast Area Council
Chairman Lewis Gardner said

as $ .50 lower if the Final
Decision is implemented with
out changes. DFA is joining
plaintiffs Dairylea Inc.,
Agrimark, St. Albans and
Upstate dairy cooperatives in
the lawsuit.
