The Mifflin County 4-H Junior Leaders received a Milton W. Delaney Community
Service Award from the Association of Township Supervisors for last years’ suit
case collection project. In the front row is Lindsey Laughlin, Hillary Angney, Lisa
Macknair, and Connie Shaffer. In the back row are Samantha Speicher, Steven
Dupert, Andy Uhland, Sean Miller, and Gayle Stine. The 4-H Junior Leaders are also

Community Service Award

The Mifflin County junior lead
ers received a Milton W. Delaney
Award from the Association of
Township Supervisors Saturday,
Oct. 2, during the leader recog
nition banquet at the Maitland
Church of the Brethren.

er Alan Laughlin presented the
plaque to the group for their
suitcase drive held last year. The
Association of Township
Supervisors offers the award to
groups for outstanding commu
nity projects.
“Only five awards were given
m Pennsylvania,” said Laughlin,
holding up a plaque. “The Junior
Leaders also received $100.”
The Junior Leaders present
ed the Friend of 4-H Award to
Doug and Becky Bowersox,
McClure. The Bowersox family
helped the junior leaders man
age the food stand this year dur
ing the Mifflin County Youth
Fair. They spent one week of
their vacation time literally
camping out at the fair.
“The Junior Leaders are a
fun batch of kids,” Becky
Bowersox said after she and her
husband, Doug, received the
Friend of 4-H Award. The annu
al award goes to anyone who has
