A24-L«nc—ter Farming, Saturday, September 18, 1999 YORK (York Co.) - The open sheep shows were held at York Fair this week with the wool breeds judged on Sunday, and the meat breeds on Monday. Randy Irwin from Freeland, Maryland, showed the supreme champion ram and the supreme champion ewe in the wool breeds after taking both championships in the natural color breed, and champion ram honors in the other wool breeds class. Greta Disc, Glen Rock showed the champion ewe in the other wool breeds class. Brian and Bruce Snyder from Kutztown had both the champion ram and the champion ewe in the Corridale breed. In the meat breeds, Jennifer Flinchbaugh, York, had the supreme champion ram, a Southdown. The champion pig was owned by Julie McClelland of Colwyn, and the reserve champion pig was owned by Brian Albany of Booth wyn. Mike Candelori of Havcitown and Vera Kurm lavage of Lans downe both received champion ribbons for educational posters about 4-H projects completed in the last year. Project de monstrations were presented to a live audience on Saturday. The champion demonstration was on dog training presented by Chelsea McAlamcy of Willistown. 4-H members who participate in performing chores for the horses owned by 4-H had the op portunity to compete in grooming and showmanship and a number of competitive games which de monstrated riding skills.
