Afriancaster Farming, Saturday, September 11, 1999 National Grain Market St. Joseph, MO Tuc Sep 07, 1999 USDA-MO Dept Ag Market News DAILY NATIONAL GRAIN SUMMARY Grain and soybean bids were sharply higher after the long holiday week- end. Wheat | to 11 cents higher. Com steady to S cents higher. Sorghum 1 cent higher. Soybeans 18 to 23 cents higher. Wheat bids were higher, despite the slowdown in export trading. USDA has made a credit deal with Pakistan for PL-480 purchases. Indications are they will soon tender for US wheat Minneapolis wheat was sharply higher on continued tain delayed spring wheat harvest. Com bids were sharply higher in reaction to sharp gains in soybean pits. Higher than expected year to date export inspection figures offered strength to com bids. Sharply higher soybean bids were due to the extended dry weather over the weekend. Lower yields are estimated. Very good export sales over night and weekly export inspection numbers last week, also supported soybean bids. Grains inspected for export for week ended Sep tember 2,1999: Wheat totaled 16.3 million bushels, down 13.6 million bushels, com 43.6, down 5.8, sorghum 3.3, up 2.2, and soybeans 21.4, up 7.8 million bushels. Year to Date: Wheat totaled 309.3, up 40.9, com 19.2, up 8.2, sorghum 2.1, up 1.0, and soybeans 5.3, up 2.2.
