Right away, beef show judge Brian Hrutkay, Bentleyville, Washington County, commented on the improvements the exhibi tors made to animals shown com pared to last year, when Hrutkay also judged the show. Hrutkay enjoyed the muscling and best overall finish of Heather's Angus/Maine Anjou steer, naming it supreme in the market show Tuesday afternoon at the Lebanon Fairgrounds. Heather, 19, is the daughter of Kevin and Karen Fuls, Richland. The Conrad Weiser High School Graduate said she purchased the steer from Sunrise Club Calves, Shippenville, and would sell it at the fair. Heather said she attends the Keystone International Livestock Expo and state Farm Show. Kyle Fleener, 15, son of Tim and Sarah Fleener, Robesonia, won reserve overall market steer champion with a Maine Anjop/ Angus crossbred steer, “Scooby Do,” named after a favorite car toon TV character. Scooby Do, at 1,122 pounds, was named medium weight champion. Kyle, a sophomore at Eastern Lebanon County High School, also won supreme champion heifer for what the judge considered a “smooth-sided” animal. The champion was a Shorthorn junior yearling.
