Trading was uneven and demand was
only moderate until late in the sale, when
some fancy cattle stirred up interest A
modest run of Holstein steers and
slaughter heifers sold mostly steady A
light test of slaughter cows and an
outstanding offering of slaughter bulls
traded firm to 100 higher Supply
included near 64 percent slaughter steers
and 10 percent slaughter cows

CATTLE: Compared to
Thursday, slaughter steers and heifers
sold firm to mostly .50 higher. Demand
was good and the bulk of the steer supply
was made up of high Choice and Prime.
A lighter run of Holstein steers sold
mostly steady to weak Slaughter cows
traded 50-1 50 higher than Thursday’s
sharply lower market A thin test of
slaughter bulls sold 1 00 lower. Supply
included 47 percent slaughter steers and
42 percent slaughter cows

CALVES: Compared to last week,
veal calf prices were steady to 2.00 lower
Demand for Holstein bull calves to place
in special veal bams was much lighter
than last week, with the lowest prices paid
late in the graded sale. Holstein bulls sold
23.00-30.00 lower, but the heifer market
continues strong with prices steady to
15.00 higher Supply included 634 head in
the State graded sale and 83 percent
returned to feed.
