slaughter steers sold steady Prices held
up well, despite a lower undertone Hol
stein steers and slaughter heifers were
not well tested The triple-digit heat
took its toll on the livestock, espe
cially the slaughter cows where prices
ranged steady to 1.00 lower as buyers
were careful to discount cows that may
not travel well Slaughter bulls were
scarce Supply included 52 percent
slaughter steers and 38 percent
cows (Monday's portion of the sale was
not reported, due to the holiday )

steady to SO lower. This week's offering
was fairly light fallowing the long holiday
weekend. The market easily had justifica
tion to fall significantly lower, with both
beef and pork values in a slump. Western
cattle feeders traded 1.00 lower at 63.00
live and 100.00 in the meat, but had yet to
trade the bulk of their ahowlists fay Friday
