The new unit will help dairy farmers assure accuracy of milk storage, while the new database will help to coordinate weights and measures reporting in the state; • $lOO,OOO for new laboratory equipment to perform plant and seed sample analysis, and help to protect Pennsylvania plants and crops from disease and pests; • $4.1 million, an increases of $lOO,OOO, to help county fairs; ’ $446,000 for livestock, dairy shows, and 4-H and FFA activities at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, an increase of $29,000; and a $20,000 increase for drug detection equipment in die Equine Toxicology and Research Labora tory. Gov. Ridge's budget includes a $ 116.3 million reduction in the Capital Stock and Franchise Tax and a $67 million reduction in the Corporate Net Income Tax. These tax cuts will help about 150,000 Pennsylvania small businesses, includ ing many farmer and agricultural operations. In addition. Gov. Ridge also has proposed elimination of the S percent state tax now levied on Pennsylvanians who use natural gas in their homes. With elimination of the Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) on natural gas, more than 2 million Pennsylvania families would save an average of $55 per year.
