For winning first place in com munity service projects. State Grange Master Bill Steel presented a check from the State Grange to Kunkle. Shartlesville Grange received third place and another check from the National Grange " held in North Carolina last month. In addition to planning the rescue event, Kunkle and other grange members spent countless hours sewing stuffed toys for pediatric patients, wheel chair bags for chair-bound people, walk er bags and finger separator, for the elderly, baby quilts for babies with AIDS, and personal bags for women in crisis. Kunklc works a few days each month to prepare and serve break fast at the Shartlesville Grange, which raises funds to purchase sewing supplies for community projects and for monetary dona dons to community services. Shartlesville Grange donates money to Wemersville State Hos pital and The Children’s Service to buy Christmas presents for padents and children.
