The Case IH 8585 large square baler is part of Case Corporation’s largest-ever hay and forage product introduction featuring 15 new products designed to meet the increased productivity needs of farmers. “Case IH large square balers are designed to produce the highest quality hay with the least amount of handling,” said Marsha Dabich, Case IH live stock production systems mar keting manager. Complementing the 8575 and 8950 balers, the 8585 baler completes the Case IH square baler family for large hay producers. “The Case IH 8585 baler can handle dry- or high-moisture hay or silage, producing a three by-four foot bale weighing up to 1,500 pounds dry,” noted Dabich. “Large bales mean reduced time loading and unloading. Similarly, reduced handling in the baler increases hay quality.” To reduce the loss of protein rich leaves, the Case IH center line design flows hay gently Hoffman Seeds Celebrates ‘Product of the Year’ Award LANCASTER (Lancaster Co.) The wide, low-profile pickup has dual cam tracks on the left and right side for smoother flow of hay. Centering augers softly transfer the hay to the packing fingers. Once in the prepacker chamber, bale flakes consistent in weight and size are formed. Weight sensors trigger the stuff ing cycle, ensuring consistent sizes. Leaves lost from the flake of hay as it is lifted into the bale chamber fall onto the next flake. “Case IH large square balers provide customers with consis tent bale flakes, density and weight,” said Dabich. “This high-quality performance will pay off for large hay producers.” The balers also provide a number of innovative features, simplifying baling. Once the bale is formed, an innovative knotting system uses top and bottom twine tensioners to even ly feed twine around the bale, eliminating twine disc pullout.
