OCTOBER 15, 1996 National Grain Market St, Joseph, MO Wed Oct 14, 1996 USDA-MO Dept Ag Market News 'daily national grain SUMMARY Wheat and soybean bids turned lower after yesterday’s tally, com bids showed some strength. Wheat steady to 5 cents lower. Com steady to 2 cents higher. Sorg hum steady. Soybeans 5 to 8 cents lower. Wheat bids were mostly lower, today, prfessured by some profit taking on the Boards. Uncertainty about the donation program to Russia and the status of the loan rates in the AO budget bill, weighed on bids. Export demand has been slow this week for wheat. Com bids were steady to slightly higher as tains ate in the forecast this week for the Com Bell areas. Temper ing gains, however, is rapid harvest prog ress with 43 percent of the crop reported to be in bins. Fanner selling has slowed and basis firmed. Good export sales earlier in the week helped support com bids. Lower soybean bids were due also to some profit taking on the Boards. Weaker meal bids also pressured bean bids as record high crush rates have resulted in a surge in meal supplies. Early week export sales have lim ited declines.
