That’s not quite true.
The Farmers Market Nutrition
Program began in the late 1980 s
under Governor Casey and Secre
tary of Agriculture Wolff. It start
ed as a pilot program, providing
fresh fruits and vegetables to
needy Women and children. The
idea was simple. Provide nutri
tious Pennsylvania produce to an
