Trucklot buying activity wai light and
selective. Breast cuts were fully adequate
to ample and buyen generally bid sharply
lower for additional offerings. Leg quarters
had increased in availability and were
more than sufficient for the current buyer
interest Machine cut wings remained
available and slow to dear. Retail and dis
tributive movement remained slow to fair,
floor stocks were light but adequate. The
market lone was about steady on leg items,
weak and unsettled on breast items and
machine cut wings.

Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, October 10, 1998-AS
SUMMARY
Sharp gains were made in grain and soy
bean bida Wednesday. A weaker US dol
lar, talki of Russian donatiosia, and tain
delayed harvest were all factors in the
higher bida. Wheat 7 to 13 cents higher.
Com 6 to 10 oms higher. Sorghum 13
cents higher. Soy-beans tto IS cents high
er. Wheat bids jumped higher on talks of
China baying 1/2 millian tonnes of EU
feed wheat Some fund buying on die
Board was noted. Com and soybean bids
mowed sharply higher for fourth consecu
tive day. Rain delayed harvest and the
weaker US dollar offered support Soybean
bids also gained strength on higher meal
and oil demand. The potential for up to
500,000 tonnes of meal donations to Russi
a also underpinned bids.
