Other foods not to be missed are the finger-licking chicken or pork barbecues, rib-eye steak, sausage, or ox roast sandwiches, funnel cakes, homemade soups, and soft pretzels made right before your eyes. Many of the concession stands are run by members of the local Lions Clubs, Jaycee organizations, fire companies, fruit growers associ ation, 4-H clubs, and Republican and Democrat parties who use their earnings to support activi ties in their communities. The Jaycees started the festi val in 1964 as a fund raiser to finance their projects. One pro ject, Oakside Community Park—purchased by the Jaycees Lebanon Farm Women Society 21} touted Fort Indiantown Gap Helicopter Base. Jay Bachman showed five different types of heli copters, which are difficult to believe how large they are when up cldse. Members also went to the weather tower on the base to leam what goes on for the helicopters to be able to land and take off softly. The September meeting was held at Ono Fire Hall where mem bers entertained Group 10. Lany and Lorraine Shucy and Darrel and Jane Emrick showed slides and talked about their recent Alaskan tour and cruise, where they had the chance to pan for gold and found a little bit. Meat, cheese, and fruit trays were served as refreshments. The next meeting will be at the home of Kynel Himmelberger.
