Co ' The Chester County 4-H
dairy goat roundup was held
recently at the Chester County
Romano 4-H Center. A total of 22
goat projects were exhibited and
five 4-H youth participated. This
year the show was divided into
two breed classes - Alpines and
Other Breeds Combined.
Kristen Michahk of
Sellersville did a fine job not
only in placing the animals, but
also instructing the 4-Hers in
how to improve their showing
and fitting techniques. In the
Alpine class, Jessica Bohmier of
New London, captured both
senior and grand champion with
her beautiful doe, Mocha, in the
does 3-5 year of age class. She
also received the reserve senior
and reserve grand champion
title with Magnolia, a doe in the
3 years of age and over class.
Lilly, who showed m the 4 to 12
month old kid class, was the
junior champion for Jessica,
with Chad McKee of Coatesville
winning reserve junior ribbon
with Lushious, who also showed
in the 4 to 12 month old class

The co-high sellers brought
$750 each and were sold by
Diane Kahnowski, Cochranton,
and Joshua Kenny of Meadville.

division also went to Veronica
with Puddles, a 12 to 24 month
old kid. Veronica also received
the reserve junior champion
award with her 0 to 4 month old
kid, Poppy Seed.
The highlight of the roundup
was when the judge selected
Jessica Bohmier’s outstanding
grand champion Alpine doe.

In early September, 13 year
old Jessica Bohmier, a dedicated
4-H member, died in a plane
crash A memorial award in
Jessica’s name is being planned
for the 4-H Goat Program in
Chester County.
