Alyssa Poorman, a 10-year old from New Britain, showed her 112-pound Hampshire wether to the grand champion at the Bucks County 4-H Market Lamb Show and Sale. Her lamb was purchased by W Rollin Raab & Son, Inc. of Hartsville for $435. Justin Brown of Hatfield had the reserve champion lamb His 128-pound Suffolk was bought by Rosenberger’s Dairy, Hatfield, for $4lO Thirty-two 4-H members par ticipated in the show and sale The sale averaged $220 per lamb. Two lambs topped the sale at 4-H Swine Clubs Conduct 56th Annual Show, Sale CHAMBERSBURG (Franklin Co.) The 56th Annual Franklin County 4-H Pig Club Show and Sale was held at the Greencastle Livestock Market on Saturday, Aug. 1, with 73 4-H project ani mals shown and sold. The 77 head of pork-on-the hoof totaled 15,530 pounds and sold for a total sale value of $13,901.05 or an average of 90 cents per pound. The grand champion hog, weighing 245 pounds, was shown by Eric Diem, Willow Hill and was purchased by Hatfield Meats for $3.10 a pound. The reserve champion shown by Adam Greenawalt of Ambcrson, weigh ing 230 pounds, was also pur chased by Hatfield Quality Meats for $1.30 a pound. In the pen-of-lwo class, champ ion honors went to Eric Diem, Willow Hill, and was purchased by Hatfield Quality Meats for $1 a pound. Reserve champion honors went to Justin Conner, Chambers burg, purchased by Upperman’s Water Treatment Service and Rotz See. Univest Corporation, Souderton, bought the second place heavy weight lamb, a 132- pound Suffolk owned by Kelly Pike of Quakertown A group of buyers including Howard Simons, Newton Chamn, Hong Kong Jack’s Restaurant, Hoot & Holler Farm and Manyunk Charcutene also paid $475 for Alyce Simons’ second place medium heavyweight lamb. Other class winners included Amber Glover, Pineville, first place lightweight which was bought by Keystone FaTm Credit, Silverdale, for $lOO Tim Mann won the heavyweight divi sion. The First National Bank of Newtown paid $230 for his 139- pound Hampshire ewe. & Stonesifer Public Accountants for $1 a pound. In the junior fitting and show ing class, Anna Kent, St. Thomas, was declared grand champion and Ezra Good, left, representing Hatfield Quality Meats pur chased the Franklin County 4-H grand champion market hog for $3.10 per pound, exhibited by Eric Diem.
