Buyers competed for grand and reserve grand champion banners almost as intensely as 4-H mem bers on show day, during the Mer cer County 4-H Sale of Champ ions here at the Mercer County 4-H Park. The sale of champions, which featured the grand and reserve grand champion hogs, rabbits, lambs, steers, goats, and carcass hogs and steers, was followed by the 4-H livestock sale. The sales totaled approximately $94,000 and featured 239 head of live stock. Before the event got started, the buyers presented Mercer County Extension Livestock Specialist Bob Calvert with a gift to show their appreciation to him for or ganizing the sale each year. JJJJ, LEi Tim Gadsby hands over his grand champion market hog to buyers Kenny Haynes of Lakeview Fertilizer and Todd Shearer of Shearer Farms. Haynes and Shearer also repre sented Sandy Lake Mills, which helped make up the win ning bid of $5 per pound.
