A 5-year-old Holstein owned by Heather Brubaker, of Manheim, on Thursday was named the supreme champion dairy animal of the youth dairy shows at the Elizabethtown Fair Dairy Show. Great View B-Star Mabel, a 5-year-old Holstein exhibited by Heather Brubaker, daughter of Lowell and Deb Brubaker, of Hill top Heritage Holsteins, was named supreme champion in the final competition of the Elizabethtown Fair’s dairy shows of the Holstein and Jersey breeds. Judge of the dairy shows and youth showmanship competitions was Alan Hostetler, of Dale-Pride Holsteins in Annville, Lebanon County. The Elizabethtown Fair supreme dairy animal competition is for youth exhibitors, but both grand champions of each breed carried dual division grand champ ionships; for the open and youth divisions. Andrew Dice, of Blue Mountain View Farm in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County, exhibited the grand champion Jersey of both the youth and open division shows. His 8-year-old Marantha Deacons Cherub received praise from show judge for its age, height of udder floor above the hocks, strength and stature, but he gave the advantage to the Holstein, which had won best udder in its breed show, for being more correct and exhibiting more dairyness on Thursday. In the rest of the Holstein open division show, the reserve grand and reserve senior champion was a 3-year-old, Seven-Gen Rail Don na, owned by Clair Oberholtzer of Elizabethtown, the seventh gener ation to farm on the home farm. The open division junior champion Holstein was a senior yearling, Donegal Creek Bellwood Alta-ET, bred and owned by Joe Wivell of Elizabethtown. The reserve junior champion of the open division and the junior champion of the youth division was a junior yearling, Hilltop Her itage Astrojet Fidelle, owned by Blake Brubaker, Heather’s brother. The reserve grand champion of Not Too PAADS HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) There’s still time to be part of the Pennsylvania All-American Dairy Show, celebrating 35 years of great dairy cattle shows, chal lenging youth competitions and exciting cattle sales. The late entry deadline was Sept. 2, but a new rule allows en tries postmarked after Sept. 2 to be accepted at a fee of $lOO per ani mal. These entries received or hand-delivered to the dairy cattle superintendent, will be accepted until 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept 20. The Pennsylvania All-Ameri can Dairy Show, the largest dairy exhibition on the East Coast is held in the Farm Show Complex, Maclay and Cameron Sts., Harris burg. The Farm Show Complex is a totally indoor facility, boasting the best accommodations and milking facility anywhere on the show circuit. The milking parlor has the capacity to milk 36 ani mals simultaneously. In the Jersey breed open divi sion, the reserve senior and reserve grand champion was a 4-year-old, Blue Mountain Yankee Adrianne, owned by Harold Dice. That along with lots of old-fashioned hospitality, makes the Pennsylvania All-American Dairy Show a great place to show and exhibit cattle. Everyone is welcome. The 35th anniversary All- American Dairy Show opens Sun day, Sept. 20, with a ribbon cut ting ceremony at noon.
