A3B-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 29, 1998 6-Year-Old La Mancha Wins E-town Goat Show ELIZABETHTOWN (Lancas ter Co.) A 6-year-old purebred La Mancha doe won champion of the Elizabethtown Fair Dairy Goat Open Show Tuesday afternoon at the fairgrounds. The doe was shown by Corey Halterman of Pine Springs Farm, Elizabethtown. Grand champion of the 4-H show was a Recorded Grade, a 3 year-old doe shown by Amanda Grube, Elizabethtown. Amanda, 13, is the daughter of Tim and Roxanne Grube. Amanda is in the eighth grade at Elizabethtown Middle School. Grand champion of the 4-H show was a Recorded Grade, a 3-year-old doe shown by Amanda Grube, Elizabethtown. A 6-y*ar-old purebred La Mancha doe shown by Corey Halterman of Pine Springs Farm, Elizabethtown, won champion of the Elizabethtown Fair Dairy Goat Open Show Tuesday afternoon. A total of 49 beef cattle was brought to the auction block. Swine One hundred and twenty-six market hogs were sold in a more than two-hour auction. The grand champion owned by Randy Koontz sold for $5.50 per pound. Bill Campbell of Bedford Ford purchased the animal. Campbell, owner of Bedford Ford, Bedford Chrysler, and Boss’s Steak and Seafood, is a loyal supporter of the junior auction. Reserve grand champion went for $3 per pound. Owned by Nicki Smith, it was purchased by Hoss’s. Bryan Imler saw his champion carcass sell to G.W. Sipes for $4 .25 per pound and Ben Kendall, accountant, purchased the reserve champion carcass from William Kendall for $4 per pound. Many of the hogs were resold following the auction with pro ceeds going to the fire company, nursing homes, the abuse center, and the scholarship fund. A number of the youth also con tributed 5 percent of their auction money back to the scholarship fund.
