    Franklin, Lebanon Win At PA 4-H Achievement Days
UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre
Co.) - The 1998 Pennsylvania 4-
H Achievement Days were held
August 5, at University Park.
Seventy-five contestants par
ticipated in the dairy cattle
judging contest.
The winning team in the
senior division was Franklin
County, with members Thomas
Harwood, Emme Mellott,
Barbara Reichard, and Curtis
Reichard.
In the junior division,
Lebanon County emerged as the
first-place team. Members were
Bradley Hoover, Dustin
Horning, Daryl Maulfair, and
Jared Zimmerman.
In the rest of the senior divi
sion competition, in second was
the team from York county, with
members Jacob Hushon, Joshua
Hushon, Becky Kilgore, and
Susan Richardson.
Placing third through fifth
were Lebanon County (Andrew
Ebersole, Jaclyn Troutman,
Justin Troutman, Timothy Vail)
Berks County (Erica Davis,
Gregory Davis, Ken Houp,
Brandon Treichler); and

The Clean Water Farm Award
presented recently to the Steve
Groff family was reported as com
ing from the Chesapeake Bay
Foundation. Actually the award
was presented by the Chesapeake
Bay Program. We are sorry for the
error.

York tied on score with Franklin
winning the tiebreaker.
Competition was keen among
the top 10 senior individuals.
Placing first overall was Emme
Mellott with 508 points. Curtis
Reichard placed second with 506
points, followed by Susan
Richardson (506), Marsha
Bosch, Lycoming County (503),
and Andrew Ebersole (499).
The remainder of the top ten
were Joshua Hushon, Brandon
Treichler, Justin Troutman,
Colleen Ishman, and Thomas
Harwood. The top seven individ
uals were separated by only ten
points.

Pennsylvania All-American
Dairy Show and the National 4-
H Judging Contest.
In reasons, the top five were

Lehigh County.
In the rest of the junior divi
sion, Cumberland County's
team of Amy Kaucher, Aaron
Cornman, and Scott Walton
placed second, followed by
Butler (Nicole Boyle, Shannon
Linamen, Nathan Schultheis).
There was a tie for high indi
vidual in the contest between
Bradley Hoover and Matthew
Yoder. Placing third through
tenth were Emily Cloninger,

County. Each county was able to
nominate one candidate for this
prestigious conference, and an
interview panel selected
