Show Continues Growth

The South West Pa., Holstein
show took one step forward
toward new heights in its exhi
bition here on Saturday August
1 The show continued its
numerical growth, attracting
105 entrants from the 7 counties
which are part of the
Southwestern region. Though
technically possible to cross the
lines, few entries came from out
side the region.
A strong showing with 12
entries in the Winter (Int) Calf
Class promise this area will con
tinue to grow. The experience
gamed by the youngsters in this
show will keep the competition
keen for many years
The family involvement by
the Allen Hill dairy shows how’
seriously this competition is
taken The family showed 14
animals, winning the premiere
breeder and Premier exhibitor
banners

including youth show sponsor

with the action in the ring.

Carlisle, PA said he’s been
involved with Holsteins all his
life. Following the judge’s deci
sions, dairy princes from three
counties helped in presenting
ribbons, rosettes, quality tee
shirts and merchandise to the
winners. Representing the
region were Beckie Ruffner,
Armstrong county dairy
princess, Jane Ansel, Fayette
county dairy princess, and
Missy Powell, Somerset county
dairy princes i.
The Southwestern Pennsylvania
Holstein region includes Armstrong,
Butler, Fayette, Lawrence,
Somerset, Washington and
Westmoreland counties. Points
accumulated in this show accu
mulate and help determining
winners at the Pennsylvania
state and US Holstein shows
Pennsylvania Holstein Associa
tion executive director Kenneth
I Raney credited the show com
mittee chair Rick Allen and the
ten members of his committee
with good organization, includ
ing arranging for the show spon
sors.
