With 10-foot high com lining the driveway of Marvin Stoltzfus fam ily’s farm off East Eby Road, The Monsanto Dairy Group, and Pen nfield Feeds hosted an educational dairy event Tuesday that attracted mote than 200 dairy farmers. New management information from a herd of cows that has an over-last-year increase of 6,733 pounds of milk to a 34,350 m herd average provided the basis for company representative’s presen tations. Dan Card, sales represen tative for Monsanto, said the event was proposed to bring people together to show new management practices not well known in south east Pennsylvania. “We ate looking at such prac tices as evaporative cooling, sup plemental lighting, and heat stress management,” Card said. “We want to show people what is com ing and what they need to consider m these low cost practices.
