Keep Your Kitchen
Clutter Free and Safe
The kitchen is one of the most
used rooms in the house, so it’s
easy for clutter to build up. Take
the time to analyze and reorga
nize, and the result will be a
cleaner, more efficient kitchen.
If something hasn’t been used
m two years, it is probably
unnecessary. Get rid of it or
move it to another storage area.
Seasonal items such as holiday
platters or cookie cutters, or
rarely used items, such as large
serving platters, can also be
stored someplace else. So they
are not “out of sight/out of
mind,” list these items and their
new location in a small note
book.

specific shapes. In addition, the
units stack for easy storage and
the contents are easily visible.
When not in use, both lids and
bases can be nested to save
space. These containers are
mostly dishwasher, freezer and
microwave safe. But, because
they can get very hot in the
microwave, be sure there are
good size handles. And remem
ber these containers should
never be used on a stovetop
burner or in a conventional
oven.
Wash new containers before
using them, using a hand dish
washing detergent or putting
them in the dishwasher. For
stubborn stain removal, soak in
a concentrated solution of hand
dishwashing detergent and
water. Be aware that some
acidic foods may cause staining.
Most businesses use their

FIFO basis First In/First Out.
You should keep this idea in
mind when checking on your col

packaged goods on your kitchen
cabinet or pantry shelves. Date
your food items to assure that
you are not keeping foods for too
long. Use the foods while they
are still at peak quality and
nutritious.

have goats too,” Chris said of the
family’s interest in goats.
Showmanship awards were won
by Jessica Bohmier, junior com
petition; Joe Batchelper, interme
diate winner, and Grant Klobier,
senior division.
Showmanship winners excel
when they are able to show indivi
dual goats to the best advantage.
“Not only must they show their
own animal butalso be able to lead
someone else’s animal and show it
to the best advantage,” the judge
said. Showmanship also includes
judging on the grooming, clipping,
and bathing of the goats to give a
neat appearance.
Here is a partial listing of
