Prices were higher for whole and whites,
unchanged for the balance. The market
tone was fully steady to firm. Demand was
generally fair. Supplies were adequate.
Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending July 18, 1998 were 1% more than
last week and 9% more than the same week
last year. Shell egg offerings were limited
for heavy weights, and many breakers used
mediums and smalls to run full schedules,
or reduced schedules.

large and large in parts of the North Central
and Northeast regions, and elsewhere
'prices were unchanged. The market tone
was mostly steady. Demand ranged light to
good, and was best into resort areas and
where scattered features were in progress.
Supplies were adequate to available, and
heavy eggs were occasionally tight Break
ing stock supplies remained generally
adequate from regular sources; light
weights were in the longest position, and
heavy nest run were occasionally sought.
Light type hen offerings continued adequ
ate for hill slaughter schedules.
